Microsoft, Yahoo Search Alliance Shared Numbers

Microsoft has a post on his blog called adCenter, "Yahoo and Microsoft Search Partnership State Union." The message gives you an idea of how the marriage between the two search engines are going so far.

Interestingly, the data actually come from Microsoft itself, but from a presentation at the Search Engine Strategies NY Nirah Shah of Marin Software.

Some of the numbers of Microsoft Paul Greenwood forward are:

- Counts 60K + research moved

- 26k + billing options

- Optimization Tasks 11k + / completed creative

- 7650 + hours of training

- The market has stabilized in the first 90 days

I'm not entirely sure what to make of these figures have not been given much context, but they are there, as presented by Microsoft.

"The data showed that from August 2010 to December 2010 Search Market Share Search for Bing rose 7.25%," Greenwood writes. "In the same period, Google gained 0.61%. AdCenter Views advertisers increased 4%, snaps up 2%, and costs approximately flat. CPC has been consistently lower than Google."

A report released last month by Experian Hitwise found that Bing and Yahoo are actually chew lead Google search market. The combined share of both companies rose 3.79% from month to month, after the data.

by Bing and Yahoo accounted for 28.48% to 27.44% in January. Google's market share has slipped from 67.95% to 66.69% compared to 1.85%.

"Yahoo Search and Bing achieved the success rate highest in February 2011," Experian Hitwise said in a statement. "This means that for both search engines, has executed more than 81 percent of searches led to a visit a website. Google has achieved a success rate of 66 percent. "

Last week, the competition reported by Bing / Yahoo 's market rose to 30.8%.

Bing says that market share has actually increased each month since its launch. "This is not necessarily a zero sum game," Bing said director Stefan Weitz WebProNews in an interview at SXSW. "As we did not win a second to lose. And vice versa."

"The whole point of what we are doing now to search - Social search and personalized search, and all these sectors - addresses, and everything we use - Mobile - you can really expand the pie for everyone," said Weitz. "And where we can expand the pie, and we will do better than their competitors. - I think it probably takes more of the same is not something on which we must say:" We are going up and someone has to come down, "I think it's the wrong way to think about this area of research together. - especially after all ... the dynamics of research, which takes place today. "
Even still, I think Google and Microsoft are very happy to see each other down. Microsoft is just part of the research coalition, seeking the acquisition by Google ITA Software blocked. competition between the two companies goes far beyond search.
